Our team is on the Jira Basic subscription, and we are trying to install the Github for Atlassian tool in order to sync PR's into our Jira process. After the Github for Atlassian app has been installed, we are not able to connect a branch (or even accessing the page to select a Github space).
On the individual jira stories, we are able to click "connect branch" > "connect github organization" > then it takes us to an empty page under the url: https://blankslate.atlassian.net/plugins/servlet/ac/com.github.integration.production/spa-index-page
Hi @Annie Jiang ,
This behavior is usually caused by a combination of plan limitations and missing admin permissions, not by an installation failure.
On Jira Basic, the GitHub for Atlassian app can be installed, but configuration access is limited. Only Site Admins can complete the GitHub connection and access the app configuration UI. If the installing user is not a Site Admin, the app may show as “Installed” but load a blank page when accessed.
Please check the following:
Confirm the user trying to connect GitHub is a Site Admin (not just Project Admin)
Go to admin.atlassian.com → Apps → GitHub for Atlassian and verify the app is enabled
Re-authorize the GitHub connection from the Jira admin side
Ensure the GitHub organization was authorized with the correct permissions during setup
Also note that on Jira Basic, some advanced DevOps and configuration screens are restricted. If the app continues to load a blank page even with Site Admin access, this is a known limitation and upgrading to Jira Standard or higher resolves it.
Once properly authorized by a Site Admin, branch and PR linking should work and the “Connect branch” flow will load correctly.
