Components field

Is it possible to create custom field with the same properties, like a Components field.

Is it possible to make a choosable only one component.

You can do this and we have done this before when a customer has a VERY special need, ie, we developed a special custom field plugin that contains more functionality for the Component type of data (eg lookup in a remote database or a cascaded field that replaces the Component field). Just be sure you hide the standard Component(s) field in the field configuration or it would get very confusing.

Can I ask you the need for this? May be we can suggest a better alternative to creating a custom field?
