Complete sprint, issues marked as done are considered incomplete

Daniel Burnett February 4, 2019

Hi, when I click the Complete Sprint button, a popup appears saying that 18 items are incomplete, and need to be moved somewhere. All these items are either Done or Deployed to Production. How do I tell Jira that these items can stay in the sprint that I'm completing? Thanks.

Hello,

Only issues in the most right column of the board are considered completed.

Daniel Burnett February 4, 2019

Thank you - that fixed the issue (by setting everything to the same status, and making that status appear on the right of the board). A shame I can't have items in multiple statuses, or am I missing something?

You can connect multiple statuses to the most right column.

Hi @Amit Kadosh Go to Board -> configure -> columns and then you can just drag and drop. :)

Hi @Krit Sandhu

were you able to find such a configuration "X columns of the board are considered completed"? I was looking to configure my last 2 columns to consider a Sprint closable.

Thanks

Things I observed so far using JIRA:

  • In the Active Sprints view's board configuration, there's just the last column (colour green) being considered with a global status "Done". All the issue statuses (even for issues that have a "To Do" (colour grey) or "In progress" (colour blue) global status) put in this same last column will be considered 'done' and closed when sprint is completed.
  • Same thing in the Backlog view (because of using same underlying board (config)): time/story points of issues with statuses belonging to that last column will be counted as "Done" in the active sprint (upper part of the Backlog view); grouping is thus done the same way.
  • However in the User story map view, the time/story points of ALL the issues with a global status "Done" (can be the case for different issue statuses and that belong to different columns of the board!) will be counted together as "Done".

If you connect multiple statuses to the most right column, what will the drag-drop event select as new issue status (because there are multiple statuses possible according to different transitions based on the workflow)?

Marco Renzi October 13, 2021

It will select the nearest status in terms of flow.

E.g. if you mapped Final Testing and Done to the last column called 'Done', and you are dragging an issue from the 'Initial Testing' column (associated with Initial Testing status) to the 'Done' column, Jira will assign the Final Testing status to that issue.

You can then try again to drag the issue in the same last column and assign the Done status (since a green box for Done will be visible).

I had no idea that JIRA sprint reports look at the right most column on the board to determine if something should be reported complete in the sprint! I had another column after DONE.  Once I removed it, the report auto resolved all issues to the correct sprint and correct category - incomplete vs. complete.  Thank you @Siebert Bressink and @Marco Renzi

Why can I create multiple "Done" columns in the Workflow UI if they aren't treated as "Done" by the Sprint UI?

The Workflow UI labels are wrong because "Done" doesn't actually mean "Done"

Hi,

In my case I had an Unmapped status (Cancelled). When I drag it to the most right coumn, it's OK.
