Cloud Migration Trial vs Marketplace app trials – expected behavior?

Hi everyone,

We're currently testing a migration from Jira Data Center to Cloud and we successfully activated the Cloud Migration Trial for our main products: Jira Software, Confluence, and Jira Service Management and it reflects the time left on our Data Center license, which is great.

However, we noticed that the Marketplace apps we have on our instance only activated for a 30-day trial, regardless of the extended trial status of our core Atlassian products.

Is this expected behavior?
Shouldn't the Marketplace apps be included in the full Cloud Migration Trial period as well?

We want to test the entire setup as realistically as possible, including the apps.

Cloud migration trials are an initiative from Atlassian. Many - if not most - marketplace apps are built and sold by third party vendors, who have their own policies around that.

In many cases, you will be able to find an agreement with partners, but you will have to reach out to each and every one of them to ask how they can support you.

Migration is also quite a complex and long process, in which you may find yourself doing multiple test migrations before you're actually ready to make the production migration. It is not an uncommon scenario to migrate to test sites on trial licenses first before you get into the actual migration trial environment. 

It may not be a bad idea to work with a solution partner if you're migrating Data Center to cloud. Not only do they know what might need attention during preparation, but they can also take a lot of those negotiations off your hands. I work for one, and have experienced at close range how much time and effort can go into this.
