Closing out sub-tasks by replying to a JIRA generated email

With the new version of Jira I am able to perform tasks like attaching a document to a story by replying to an email generated out of Jira. I am wondering if a status of a story or a sub-task can be changed by replying to a Jira generated email.

Any help would be appreciated.

Not in JIRA out of the box. There may be a plugin somewhere that does that. But how would the system deal with any transition screens or required information?
