Newbie to JIRA, thanks for any help in advance.
Currently when I try to close a sprint, I get the below error even though all the tasks are completed.
Stranger still, both these tasks have been move to the next sprint and are not even in the sprint currently being closed.
Help!
The error message indicate that those two tasks have subtasks attached to them, and that is why you cannot close the sprint. When you move the task to a new sprint it will not automatically move the subtasks to that new sprint. So in order to close the sprint you have to move the subtasks over to the other sprint, once done you should be able to complete the sprint.
Thank you for the insight Mikael. There are 5 sub-tasks in the tasks but I double checked in the board view and none of them still show in the sprint I am trying to close.

Go and look on each subtask, you can remove/change the sprint from there too.

Hi Mikael,
That is the frustrating part. I had already confirmed that all the subtasks are pointing to the second sprint that the parent task is now part of.

Hi All,
Any other ideas on what may cause this?
Thank you for your help in advance.

Okay, now I see what might be going on. The subtasks have not been moved to a closed/done status, so you have to transition them to done before you can close the sprint. I would recommend that you create an automation rule that transition any subtasks to done when the parent is transitioned to done, that would avoid this in the future.

Thanks Mikael.
Wouldn't the fact that I move the entire story including the subtasks to a new sprint mean they do not have to be closed as they are not in the sprint we are trying to close.

Yes, it should work that way, and normally the subtask will automatically move to the same sprint at the parent. If you look at the two issues mentioned in the error message, do they still reference the old sprint together with the new one?
I would go ahead and close the subtasks, see if you can complete the sprint after that, an if it works just reopen the subtasks again.
