Closed the sprint and opened a new sprint. But closed items of previous sprint showing in new sprint. How to fix this issue? Old sprint showing zero items closed
Hello @Deliya Mary ,
Good day! Welcome to Atlassian Community :)
This situation generally happens when the workitems in the previous sprint were not actually moved to a Done status that is mapped to the last column on the board. As a result, Jira marks them as incomplete, carries them forward into the next sprint, and the closed sprint then displays zero completed issues.
Here are few things you can go ahead and check:
Thank you!
Hello @Deliya Mary
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
As the other replies have said, for a Scrum board an item is considered "completed" in the sprint if, when the sprint is completed, the item is in the column farthest to the right. Others have said that the Resolution must also be set, but that is not true strictly for assessing if the item was "completed" in the sprint. Items in the farthest right column, regardless of the actual Status of setting of Resolution, will be considered complete.
If the items are subtasks their parent item must also be in the right-most column.
All the subtasks under a given item must also be in the right-most column.
Otherwise the neither the subtasks nor the parent item with be considered completed in the sprint.
Can you please help me how can I can I fix the done items from the current sprint to the old one
In order to get the items to appear "completed" in the previous sprint you will have to reopen the previous sprint. This may or may not automatically pull the items back into that sprint (various factors affect this). If they are not automatically pulled back into the previous sprint you will have to manually add them to it.
Then make sure the items are in the right most column. If they have subtasks, make sure all the subtasks are in the right most column. If there are subtasks, make sure the parent item is in the right most column.
Then close the sprint again. When you close it it should show you a pop-up saying how many items are incomplete. Make sure those numbers match your expectations.
I have seen cases when there are multiple statuses mapped to the right most column there may still be issues with the items not appearing completed in the sprint. Do you have multiple statuses mapped to the right most column?

Hey @Deliya Mary
Good day!
In the context of a scrum board, work items are considered completed when:
1. they have a Resolution value AND
2. they belong to a status in the last column of the board.
So lets say you move a work item to the Done status, but the Done status is not mapped to the last (rightmost) column of the board, it will not be considered as completed.
Please validate the above two points for the work items that got moved from the old sprint to the new one.
Thanks!
