I'm cloning a task with 29 subtasks. In doing so, I selected the option to "include subtasks" but only 21 of the 29 subtasks were created in the new task.

I now have to manually add the remaining 8 subtasks.

There is no difference in the fields between of the subtasks. It just seems to be the bottom 8 subtasks were ignored.

Is there a limit to the number of subtasks that can be cloned? Or, is there something I'm missing?

Hi @Kara Smith

I'm pretty sure the native cloning function of Jira may be in conflict with the content of your missing subtasks. It can happen and the reason for it is often hard to pinpoint exactly.

Have your tried the exact same use case with an add-on instead? Elements Copy & Sync lets you do exactly that.

Full disclosure, I'm the Product Manager of the app, but I know for a fact that our app will be able to clone issues including their subtasks.

It is as easy as clicking on one option.

The app is free for 30 days, (and stays free if your instance is under 10 users), so feel free to give it a try, and don't hesitate to tell reach our Support if you have any question.

Kind regards,

Julien

Hello @Kara Smith

I just made a simple Story issue with 29 simple Subtasks in a Company Managed Software project and used the More Actions > Clone option with Subtasks checked to clone it. All subtasks were cloned.

Are you able to reproduce the problem with the same issue or another issue?
