Cleanup Project Roles from "Developer" to "Developers"

I need to move project roles from developer to developer's permissions role. As there are two similar types of roles available. The roles which were assigned to developer should be transferred to developers. Is there any impact for users, projects and permissions.
without impacting how can we achieve this.
Any suggestions will be helpful.

Hi Pavan - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Do you know if the roles are being used in Workflows or Automation rules? 

You should be able to update the Permission Schemes and Notification Schemes easy enough, though it will be a manual process. 

I you go to Settings > System > Project Roles you can click on the View Usage for the role you want to get rid of. Go through each of those cleaning them up until it shows that there is no more usage. Then you can delete the role.
