Choose project roles members in filter subscriptions

Is there a way to set-up subscriptions to filters by project role? I can see that you can do this for groups, but not project roles

There is an open isssue in Atlassian's backlog: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-16864

You should vote and watch it and maybe also add a comment with the reasons why you would need this feature, so that Atlassian team can better rank the issue.
