Hi,

I am using Jira 8.19.0, and I don't really know hoy to configure  Versions in tree mode. I would like create versions and set up childs versions, but I don't know if is a problem with Jira configuration or is because of Version's that I'm using.

Hi @David and welcome to the community,

What you are trying to do is not possible in Jira. Versions do not have a hierarchy. A common practice for technical releases is just use a naming convention that you would also use in the product you are developing itself.

  • 1.0 would then be a major release (e.g a platform release)
  • 1.0.1 would be a minor release
  • 1.0.1.x I wouldn't even know, but I'm sure you see where I'm going

Depending on your needs, it may be good to know that you can add an issue to multiple releases. If it is important for you to track that an issue belongs to both 1.0 and 1.0.1, you can perfectly add both to the fixversion field on the issue.

Hope this helps!
