Checking the resolution field for a column on the Sprint board doesn't burn the story down!

Hi, we have a workflow of To Do, In Progress, QA Ready, QA Testing, and Done.  We checked the resolution value for QA Ready and Done in our sprint board on the Columns section.  This was in hopes that anything in QA Ready or Done would show the story as resolved and that state of resolved would reflect in the Burn Down chart.  That's not happening as I'm reading the burndown chart looks as the last column only!  What's the use of being able to set a column as a resolution column in the board if the reports don't reflect it?

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Yes, that's correct - the resolution is irrelevant to burn-down.

Your issues need to be in the last column of the board.

("QA ready" is not "done" - the issue needs the team to do more work, so it's not really done.  If you want to try to be Agile, your team needs to be able to deliver completed products, including the testing)

what's the purpose of assigning a column in the board with the resolution value if that is the purpose of the Done column?  Why was this feature added - just don't understand its value?

And for your other comment, it depends on the team's definition of Done for the sprint.  Is Done ready to go into prod or is Done development done Ready for QA and QA's done is Ready for Prod.
