Checkbox to trigger email

I'd like to add a checkbox to an issue template that when checked off it sends an email to a user (could happen at any time, not during a transition). What method would be best for this (Jira Cloud)

Notifications are only sent by events in post transition processing, editing, which would count for checking a box, but also for any other edits. There is no way to trigger the notification JUST for the checkbox out of the box. There may be a plugin I'm not aware of.
