Change workflow status names for specific project

I want to reuse common status like "In progress", "Under review", "Approved", etc, but giving them a different name for making it more close to user's language for every project.

Is that possible? Is it recommended? Or it's better to create specific statuses for every workflow/project?

You can't have a status with two different names - a status is a name for a position in a workflow step.

If you want to have different step names in a workflow, then, yes, you will need to add new status for each new name you want.
