Change default field configuration for new projects

We have JIRA OnDemand, and have created a custom field configuration based off of a copy of the default. We'd like to leave the default unchanged, but use our new custom field configuration as the new system default moving forward for new projects.

I see how to change the field configuration of existing projects, but it's quite cumbersome to have to go into newly created projects and manually change to our custom fields... not to mention that not everyone who can create projects will know how to do this, requiring an admin (hello!) to do this for each new project created.

Any pointers on how to do this?

Unfortunately on JIRA onDemand, you are not left with an option. In the downloaded version, you can have project templates in a plugin.

Thanks Jobin. That is frustrating - as a work-around I guess we'll have to change the default field config.
