Categories Unable to be Added Software Project

I'm trying to add Categories to my list view in my software project, but it is not an option. I've associated the fields to the specific screens/projects, but it still not coming up. Not sure what to do and if it is related to my configuration.

Categories were a feature of Jira Work Management. While Atlassian has announced merging Jira Software and Jira Work Management into a unified Jira, this will take some time to complete entirely is my guess, as there were quite a lot of things to align when the announcement was made.

For now, there's not much you can do. You could create a category custom field yourself and add it to the screens in your Software project, but it will not be entirely the same experience as in business projects (though probably a perfectly functional alternative).
