Hi @Tim van Loo -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
Did you notice that there are sections to update both the Backlog and Board views? Is it the one you changed which is not updating?
Would you please post images showing that board configuration page and an example view where your fields do not display? That may provide some context to help with suggestions. Thanks!
Kind regards,
Bill

Thanks for those images, and...
The board configuration settings for card layout are for the Backlog and Board. To change which fields appear on the issue views...
Start with the ... menu at the top-right of the issue view, and select Find Your Field. That will guide you through the steps.

As you were able to see the Board Configuration, I am assuming you are at least a project admin and are using a Company-managed project type. You can find the project type at the bottom of the expanding area on the left side of the page. Is this correct?
And to confirm we are looking at the same place for Find Your Field, this is the ... at the top-right of the page, not the one next to the Progress button shown in your image. Like this:

hey bill, correct on both counts but no 'find your field' for me, so i suspect its an access rights issue which i will take up with someone at my org. thanks a lot for your continued support!

Sounds good; please post back here when you learn more from your site admin. Thanks!
