Probably asked by someone already, but can I toggle from this weekly allocation to a sprint-level allocation?  cap.png

Hi Ryan!

In the native Capacity view, allocation is shown per week — there's no toggle to switch it to sprint-level buckets yet. The view follows calendar weeks regardless of your sprint cadence, so for now the workaround people use is mentally mapping two weekly columns to a sprint, which is obviously not great when sprints don't start on Mondays.

If sprint-level capacity is something you need regularly, this is where our app, ActivityTimeline, can fill the gap. A few things relevant to your case:

  1. Flexible timeline scopes — you're not locked to weeks. Switch the view to 1 week, 2 weeks (a typical sprint), a month, a quarter, half a year, or a year. In each scope, the workload indicator sums up hours per that period — so in a 2-week view you effectively see each person's allocation per sprint, not per calendar week.
  2. Sprints visualized on the timeline — the Milestones panel shows sprints of your Scrum boards for their full duration, right above the team's timelines. Click the hierarchy icon on a sprint to see all its tasks and statuses.
  3. Scheduling by sprint dates — if your tasks don't have individual start/end dates, ActivityTimeline can display them based on the sprint's dates automatically, so capacity is calculated against the sprint window without extra data entry.
  4. Capacity per person, honestly counted — workload accounts for vacations, holidays, and part-time involvement, so "do we have room in this sprint" reflects real availability, not just headcount.

There's a 30-day trial if you want to check it against a live sprint. And if anything's unclear during setup, our success team will help.

Hi @Ryan Joyce

Welcome to the community !!

If you would like to try a mktplace app for tracking resource workload and capacity planning across sprints, take a look at

Capacity Planner

The app offers:

1. Resource Tracking and Allocation : The app allows you to monitor and track various resources by adding them as part of a template, and their work allocation across multiple projects / sprints.

2. Real-time Visualization: Provides intuitive charts, graphs to visualize resource utilization and capacity levels in real-time.

3. Full Sprint / Project Fix version Capacity and Monitoring

Mode details here

Hi @Ryan Joyce ,

Not within the Capacity view shown in your screenshot. Jira’s individual capacity planning currently uses a weekly grid based on a fixed 40-hour workweek. You can switch between percentages, hours, and days, but there is no native toggle that changes the grid to sprint-level periods. Atlassian documents these limitations here: Plan individual capacity for your team.

If you use Jira Premium or Enterprise, the separate Plans capacity feature can show capacity by Scrum iteration. You need to use boards as work sources, associate teams with those boards, and group the timeline by Team or Sprint. However, this is team-level sprint capacity—it does not convert the individual weekly Capacity view into per-person sprint allocations. See Enable capacity planning in your plan.

If third-party apps are an option, I’m part of the team that creates Time in Status.

Its Sprint Performance Report provides a sprint-level Workload by Assignee view. For each team member, it shows work committed at sprint start, added during the sprint, and removed from it. You can calculate workload using story points, original estimates, or work item count.

This does not replace individual availability planning, but it can help you review how work is distributed within each active or completed sprint and use that evidence when planning the next one. More details: Workload by Assignee.

Hi Ryan,

Per Atlassian's Documentation for Individual Capacity Planning, this does not appear to be possible as of yet.

I suggest exploring Atlassian's Public Requests system and seeing if this already exists and if not, creating it as a suggestion/feature request.
