I have started the Free version of JIRA. I have added a project and pushed several issues through a sprint. I wanted to delete an issue and received the message that I do not have permissions to do so. I have all the rights to it seems, but it will not allow me.
Hello @Jeremy,
Thank you for reaching out to Atlassian Community!
Checking the details of your site, I can see that it was a Standard site previously and then downgraded to Free.
I'm wondering if you changed the permissions on the project while it was Standard and then since it was downgraded to Free, the permissions are now blocked.
If you are using a classic project, go to Project settings > Permissions and check the Delete issues. By default, the permission is for "Any logged in user".
Are you able to delete tickets from other projects?
If there are no other projects, can you please create a new one in order to test?
Regards,
Angélica
Hi @Jeremy
Are you trying to delete issues in bulk or singular? And is this Classic or Next-Gen?
What is the specific error you receive? A screenshot would be ideal :)
I've just tested this in a Free instance and delete appeared to work fine.

So I just did a signup for the online hosted free version, so I imagine it would be Classic maybe? For the rest, I am trying to delete a single ticket. I have a Bug titled Test in the backlog and tried to delete it. I created the account, so I am the Admin. I did add another user and they created the ticket.

Hi @Jeremy
Is the other user able to delete issues?
And can you delete other issues (eg. in other projects)? Or is your permission to delete blocked site-wide?

I've seen instances where trial versions have moved to free versions, causing permission errors:
It is worth confirming this is a Free instance now and not a trial paid version, as permissions can differ. To check:

I originally signed up for the Free plan. I looked at the subscriptions and they all say Free.
As far as deleting, I created a new ticket, then tried to delete it. It still has the same message.
I also double checked my user and the Roles I have. My user is a Site admin. I have the group jira-administrators, site-admins, administrators, and one custom group.
