Cannot link Jira server with Bitbucket cloud

Veselin Dobrev
October 4, 2019

I recently set up a JIRA Software server instance and I'm attempting to link it to a Bitbucket Cloud account. I followed everything in this article: https://confluence.atlassian.com/bitbucket/connect-bitbucket-cloud-to-jira-software-server-814208991.html

But when I click Add at the "Add New Account" screen in the "DVCS Accounts" section of the admin tools, I get a "Connecting to Bitbucket Cloud to configure your account..." message and the spinner keeps on spinning forever. There are no warnings/errors in the logs.

Some background: I've set up HTTPS with a reverse proxy (nginx). Had some trouble with that initially, but looks like I've resolved all the issues I had with that (except maybe this, if it's related to SSL). I also added bitbucket.org's SSL certificate to the keystore, but that did not seem to have any effect.

Any ideas?

EDIT: Using the latest version of JIRA Software (v8.4.2#804003-sha1:d21414f)

I found out what the issue was.

On Windows in Firefox, uBlock Origin messes up all Atlassian websites - I have yet to find a way to resolve that. For that reason I've always used Chrome to access Bitbucket/JIRA cloud, but I use Firefox to access my instance of JIRA server. Since linking to Bitbucket cloud opens up its OAuth authentication form, it didn't work correctly because of uBlock Origin. When attempting to link the two from Chrome, everything worked as expected.

tl;dr Disable uBlock Origin if using Firefox on Windows.

@Veselin Dobrev

Hi Veselin

welcome to the Atlassian community.

Is access from your instance to butbucket possible or any chance that it is blocked

https://confluence.atlassian.com/bitbucket/what-are-the-bitbucket-cloud-ip-addresses-i-should-use-to-configure-my-corporate-firewall-343343385.html might provide some useful information

Cheers

Kurt

Yes, access looks OK. There are no firewalls set up at the moment.
