Cannot drag issues into newly created versions on Agile Board

Hi All:

I am having problems on the Agile board where I would like to drag items from the backlog onto a version.  When I try to do this, I get the following error:  Cannot add issues to a version in a different project

I only have one project and I only have one version, as such, I am not sure why it won't let me do this.  Further, if I go into the issue I am trying to drag into the version and update the 'Fix Version/s' to be the same version I was trying to drag the issue on to, JIRA allows this and suddenly the issue shows up when I click on the Version in question.
