Cannot add people to custom people section after creating ticket

So I have created a new "People" field to my ticket templates. I noticed that I can add a person to this field when creating a ticket but cannot add someone to it once the ticket has been created. I'm not sure how to make it so that I can make it so that I can edit this field after the ticket has already been created.

Check that the field is also added to the edit screen.

You’ll need to understand screen schemes that map screen definitions to issue actions.
