Canceled issues in backlog

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Closed or resolved issues are appearing in the Scrum board backlog

I have canceled issues column in front of the closed issues column. How do I keep canceled issues out of my backlog when only one column can be at the end?

Change the filter to ignore "cancelled" issues, or put the cancelled status in the done column?
