Can you use the connector G Suite connector to add users in Jira groups?

Hanna Tamrat January 16, 2019

What I would like to do is use the Atlassian/G Suite connector to put users in specific groups in Atlassian User Management? Is that possible?

How do others manage groups and access management with Jira, Jira Service desk and Confluence with over 800 users?

Hello Hanna and welcome to Atlassian Community!

When we link GSuite and sync users, they will receive the default groups (Product access), usually, the groups are jira-servicedesk-users, jira-software-users, jira-core-users, confluence-users, for example, and these groups give access to the products.

It's not possible to select custom groups on Jira to add the users, it will have to be manually.

We have a feature request suggesting the implementation of the ability to map users to default groups only:
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/ID-6480

Please, feel free to open a feature request on the project "ID" on jira.atlassian.com adding more details about why this feature is important to you.

Regards,
Angélica
