Can you create title/generic group names for assignee field?

Instead of selecting a specific person in the assignee field, can I use the person's title or group name instead. For example, instead of using Ken Smith, I would like to use Ken's title of Project Lead or the group Application Managers for the Assignee field.

Hi Keith - you can only assign an issue to a person, not a group. You could add new custom field for Group Picker type if you want to be able to do that.

No.

Hide the default "Assignee" field from your screens, as that only accepts a single user Jira user.

Then use a "replacement" field like a single line Text field or a dropdown with the options.

Only if that is the name that you enter in the users account. You could create another field and specify if they are if you desire.
