We’re using the official Jira Cloud for Slack integration in our company, and some users are seeing the following banner in Slack when a Jira issue link or key is posted in a channel:
“Hi @username, join your team to get instant access and view this work item.”
Buttons: Join / Dismiss
From our side (IT/admin), this looks like standard product behavior, not a bug in our configuration. However, our users report it as an “issue that needs to be fixed”, so we’d like to understand what options we actually have.
What we understand so far
The prompt appears when:
Someone posts a Jira issue link or key in a Slack channel, and
The mentioned user does not currently have access to that Jira project or hasn’t fully connected their Jira account.
Users can click Dismiss / Not now, and it seems there is a “snooze” mechanism that reduces how often similar prompts appear afterward.
We haven’t found any clear admin setting in Jira Cloud or in the Jira Cloud for Slack configuration to turn this off.
What we would like to know
Is there any admin-level way (in Jira Cloud or Slack integration settings) to:
Completely disable these “join your team to view this work item” prompts, or
At least configure/limit them (for example, only for some projects/workspaces/channels)?
If not, can Atlassian confirm that this is “working as designed” and that there is currently no supported way for customers to turn this behavior off?
Is there an existing feature request / public ticket we can watch or vote on, specifically asking for:
A toggle to disable these prompts, or
More granular configuration of Jira Cloud for Slack invitations / access prompts?
Why we’re asking
Our users think this is something IT can and should “fix”, but as far as we can tell, this is a product-level behavior controlled by Atlassian.
We want to give them a clear, accurate answer, and if possible, point them to a public ticket or roadmap item.
I’ve attached a screenshot of the banner for reference.
Thanks in advance for any guidance or confirmation.
