Can't share filters because of HIPPA?

Alyssa Hill

Ever since the UI update, I'm not able to share filters because of error "You can't share work item as your organization has signed up for HIPAA compliance"

Can someone please explain why this is happening and how to resolve? This is for a work management project, not a service project. I should be able to share filters.

Thank you,

Hi @Alyssa Hill

That message appears because once your Jira site is tagged for HIPAA compliance, Atlassian disables filter (and dashboard) sharing to safeguard Protected Health Information (PHI), even in non-service projects.

Tag products to enable HIPAA: https://support.atlassian.com/organization-administration/docs/tag-products-to-enable-hipaa/

When you tag(or untag) an app within the Jira family, it will automatically tag(or untag) all other Jira apps on the same site. It's important to note that tagging your apps may affect some app functionalities. For example, email and push notifications might be redacted to exclude any potential PHI.

Understand HIPAA compliance for Atlassian apps: https://support.atlassian.com/organization-administration/docs/understand-hipaa-compliance-for-atlassian-products/

Hope this helps!

Kind Regards
Utkarsh
