I saw other posts and the closest one to my issue was from 2 years ago, so I'm assuming something changed. The online help claims I should be able to see the swimlanes but I don't. I'm using the Jira free version and the following has been verified:
This page is for company-managed projects
✔️Verified - I created a Kanban board, company-managed
must be either: a project administrator for the location of the board a board administrator for the board itself
✔️ I created the board, and I am the only user, so far... I must be the admin, correct?
Go to your board, then select more "..."
✔️ Found it
Then "Board settings," and click the "Swimlanes tab." ❌ This does not exist.
Mine says "Settings for <name> board followed by a General settings section, Board filter, Board sub-filter, Completed Issues but nothing related to swimlanes.
Never mind. I just purely stumbled on the solution as I was leaving the board settings window...the actual settings menu was collapsed by default. I had absolutely no idea and just wasted a ton of time debugging the issue, researching, searching on the internet, etc. For those having the same issue, look at the upper-left hand corner and the first icon is the "expand/collapse sidebar" and Jira clearly has this collapsed by default (I'm using the Chrome browser) as I'm just starting out with this jira version and have never seen this expanded all the times I've gone into it. Very frustrating; Atlassian needs to fix this issue as there is no documentation on it and it becomes an issue for new users.
