Can't change story timelines

Thomas December 16, 2022

Dear community, I need your help.

I'm on the Jira free plans at the moment and I can't seem to be able to change the timeline on the Roadmap for child issues. Now it complains that my epics are outside of the start and end date of my child issues.

I've added "Start date" and "Due date" fields to the stories but the roadmap doesn't respect the settings.

@atlassian, If this is only support by the Premium plan, why displaying child issues on the roadmap?

Any help would be much appreciated.story_timeline.png

hi @Thomas , see if this article helps - enable-child-issue-planning-for-kanban-teams-on-the-roadmap

there is a great deal of related articles there that help explain the Roadmap for Free/Standard plans.

Many thanks Jack for your help.

Indeed, with the instructions given on the article, it's possible to hide child issues timeline bars.

Looks like when it's enabled, it reflects the sprint date and can't be changes which was explained here

[JSWCLOUD-18668] Date range for child issues on roadmap - Create and track feature requests for Atlassian products.

"If the story-level issue start/end date has been assigned to a scheduled sprint, each issue will automatically display on the roadmap in alignment with the sprint dates it is assigned (and not from the start/due date fields, if they are being used)."

For anyone who wants to be able to schedule child issues independent of their sprints, you can vote here to make it happen. [JSWCLOUD-23411] Improve ability to sequence child issues within a sprint on the simple roadmap - Create and track feature requests for Atlassian products.
