Can someone else monitor the same mailbox jira is using to import emails?

I know it is possible to give different users access to the same mailbox Jira is using to import emails, but I wanted to know if this could cause a probelm?

I imagine it is not best practice as someone could modify/delete the email before Jira has had a chance to pick it up, but that aside would it be okay?

Thanks

Do you literally mean "someone" or do you mean to have two systems monitoring the same inbox? If you had two systems monitoring and marking emails as read then that will clearly create a conflict. If a human opens the inbox and just peruse the mail without marking them as read it would not prevent issues from being created. However if the human actually marks an email as read then Jira will not create an issue for that email.

maybe if you better explain what is going on and why such a scenario might exist I could give you a different or better answer.

Hi Jack

Thanks for responding. It is the second scenario where a human also needs access.

The reason for the request is because Jira is not picking up all the emails and in some situations the attachment is missing from the ticket so we need a human that has the ability to go in and access the email from the mailbox.

There is an outlook rule that copies the emails to a subfolder and Jira is picking up the emails from that subfolder.

So I imagine, as long as you only look at the emails in the inbox then that should be good?

Thanks
