Can multiple custom fields pull from same options list?

Is there a way to have two or more custom select fields pull from the same set of options? For example, let's say I have two fields: "Issue Caused By", and "Affected Apps". I want each to pull from the same list of internal applications so we don't need to maintain duplicate lists. Is this possible?

The closest thing I've seen is Elements Connect (FKA "NFeed") , but that seems to only be a plugin for server instances.

It doesn't seem this is supported natively, which is surprising given Jira's heavy use of "schemas" and shared records to avoid duplication and promote consistency.

Hi @Tyler Nielsen  ,

Elements is currently working on a Cloud version of Elements Connect, and the first version will be released soon.

You can join the beta program to get news about the release and also to submit details about your needs (like what data sources you want to use) so the development team can prioritize future features here:

Hi @Tyler Nielsen

In standard Jira it's not possible - each select list is a separate list of values.

It depends what you're looking to achieve - if it's to copy the options from one field to another, you could do this using the Admin CSV Import (you'll need to be a Jira Admin):

  1. Create your new custom field - eg. Select List (single choice) and add it to your screen
  2. Create a test project - you'll be creating un-needed issues for this. Assign the screen to this project
  3. Go into excel and create an upload - you need at least a Summary and the new Select List field
  4. Into the Select List field, copy/paste the values from your current field - you can copy these from the custom field's context page. You'll need one issue per option, so add a summary against each option (i.e if you have 10 options, you'll need to upload 10 issues).
  5. Go to Jira Settings > System > External System Import
  6. Import the CSV into the test project, mapping the excel column to the new field
  7. Confirm the new options are available via the test project's issue screen

^ Using the admin uploader, you can add custom field values even if these don't exist already. If this was a Select List (multiple choices) you wouldn't need to create one issue per option - you could create just one issue then list the field name multiple times across the title row on excel, populating the values into each column. See this page for more information.

If this is for fields where the values will change regularly, I appreciate this isn't an ideal option - you'd have to add the new values to both each time.

I had a look and found External Data for Jira Fields for Jira Cloud, which looks similar to Elements Connect - worth checking out.
