Can default parameters be set for quick search and filters?

Can default parameters be set for quick search and filters?

Is it possible to set a default set of search paramters? For example, I would like Quick Search and New Filters to always default to not showing Closed issues.

This is not possible without major changes in the JIRA core code.

Jira already has the ability to save filters. Is it really that major of a change to take one of those filters and make it a default?
