Can a sub task type be hidden on the create screen?

We added a custom sub task type which is the default selection when creating a sub task.  There are existing issues and we do not want to remove them from the project.  However, going forward we do not want to create any new ones.

Is there a way to hide the custom sub task or make Sub-Task the default selection on the create sub-task screen?

I was able to figure out a fix changing the default selection to Sub-task. With Admin rights if you go into the Issue Type Scheme and edit the issue types, you can drag and drop the issue types in the order you would like them to appear.

Not by default, there are few apps in the marketplace that
