Can a field be created to mirror behavior of epic_link for parent tickets of sub-tasks?

Within the two dimensional filter gadget, you are able to create a summary view of all stories linked to an epic(via epicLink field). A very helpful feature would be to allow the use of the same gadget but display the summary of the parentLink field for sub-tasks.
