Can MS Project MPP files be imported respecting the WBS and including needed fields.

Raymond J Wohltman

Hello,

We're a MS Project Server site, and interested in moving to Jira to manage both waterfall and agile projects. We'd like to import the mpp files, but when we do they lose the wbs structure from Project, and the important fields aren't populated. Can this be done?

Thanks, Ray Wohltman

Sort of.  The trick is to stop focussing on the chart and look at the underlying stories that the chart is generated from.

Mpp files are not the way to go, what you should do is extract each task from them and map it on to an issue/story/whatever and import those.  The charts will then fall out of the data on the issues.
