Can I use use custom fields for "Start" and "Due Date" in the Jira Calendar View?

Ian Herzing April 16, 2025

Hi Everyone!

We have this calendar view that we would like to use to show how long our engagements are mapping across this calendar.

I use custom fields for these dates, "Engagement Start" and "Engagement End" - but they don't play well with the calendar view as I assume that are using "Start Date" and "Due Date" which are the standard fields?

I bet I could use an automation to have Engagement Start match "Start Date" but wondering if there is a simpler way.

Hi @Ian Herzing ,

Currently, there's no way to set custom fields as start and end dates in Calendar views. There's an open feature suggestion related to it - JRACLOUD-91456: Allow custom date field to be shown on Calendar View
*although I'm not sure if this is only for Plan Calendars or for in-project Calendars as well. I'd suggest leaving a comment on the linked ticket based on your requirement

But yeah, I guess automation would be the easiest way, as-is, to get the desired result.

Cheers,
Tobi
