Say I have a project with issues X-1, X-2, X-3

I then run an import from a CSV to create issue X-400.  But that was a mistake, so I delete X-400.

But the next issue that I create is now automatically set to be X-401.

Is there any way to reset the next issue number back down the lower numbers?

I did try just doing another CSV import for an issue X-4, but the next one I create after that is still X-401.

Is this even possible?

Thanks

Hi @Thomas Carney,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

The short answer is no, that is not possible. The only option would be to delete the project and start over.

The real question is, why would you like to reset the numbering? Is it just esthetic?

Hi @Thomas Carney ,

Welcome to the Atlassian community,

Sad to say, no we can't change/reset the number in the ticket issue key. You would need to create a new project to start the count again.

Thanks!
