Can I set the creator of an issue or subtask as the assignee?

New to JIRA and my first question is: Is there a way I can have the user who creates an Issue or Subtask automatically be the assignee?

Well, I believe we can assume that the creator of an issue is the current user of JIRA, so you can add a postfunction in your Create Issue transition to set the assigne of the issue as the current user. You can find more details about workflow postfunctions in the link below:

Thanks Teiler. Just getting into post functions/workflows and am looking for automation where I can. Most of our staff will be creating their own Issues and subtasks so this is helpful.
