I have Jira & Confluence & Crucible/Fisheye and others on virtual machines with versions of the software that are about a year old.
I have a nice new beefy ESXi server and I would like to do fresh installs on new VMs instead of attempting to migrate the VMs.
I am looking for the "easiest" way to get the latest versions of the Atlassian software on these fresh VMs and preserve my existing data.
I will attempt this, but I was wondering if the community could provide me some detailed documents or just a general pep talk that things will go smoothly. ;-)
Any input welcome. I assume this will take me several days to complete, so please bare with me as I bump this posting occasionally to get new viewers over the next couple days as I attempt this.

Just follow Atlassian's official guide on how to upgrade the software and you should be fine.
