Can I import specific issues from one jira instance to another jira instance

I am using JIRA 6.4.2 for both instances. Is there a way to import specific issues from one JIRA instance to another JIRA instance?

Yes, you can. There are different ways of achieving this though. I believe the easiest one would be to use the JIRA to JIRA Issue Copy plugin.
