We no longer actively use this platform. I would like to retain a copy of all the data.
Can I do this?
Will it be in a usable format eg read only, so I can review at a future date if required?

Hi @Karen Furnell!

There are a few possible options for keeping a copy of your Jira Cloud data.

Here are some of them:

  • export project data through Jira Cloud site backup (XML format):

However, Jira's XML backup doesn't include the full work item change history in a readable format.

  • use Jira's built-in functionality and export work items, for example, in CSV format:

However, native Jira export doesn't include field change history, timestamps for every update, old vs new values.

  • use third-party apps reliable on Atlassian Marketplace, like Issue History for Jira from SaaSJet team. Using this app, you will be able to export all Jira work item history across multiple projects to CSV or Excel:

The example of an exported report in Excel format:

Hope this will be useful!

Hello @Karen Furnell

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

You can refer to this document for information about creating a backup of your Jira data that would be suitable for import to a Jira Cloud site at a later date.

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/export-issues/

You can also consider exporting issue data to a CSV format, which can be done from the Filters > Search Work Items screen.

Yes, most platforms allow you to export your data. Typically, you can download it in a readable format such as CSV, JSON, or PDF, which is ideal for future reference. Check the platform’s account settings or data/privacy section for an export or “Download My Data” option. If you can’t find it, contacting support directly usually works.
