Can I add a colored tag (like an Epic link tag) to an issue on a Kanban board using a custom field?

Hi there,

Ideally I want to add colored tags (in the same style as the Epic link tags) to issues on a Kanban board. I know I can add colors to the sides of the cards based on a custom field, but ideally it would be the text of the custom field itself that has the color.

This would make it much easier to understand at a glance what the colors mean and would make our board more legible in general.

Unfortunately this is not supported by Jira. You can't have colors in custom fields. There is an open issue here that could be of interest to you https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-17640
