Calendar Gadget - editing options

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Changing the Look and Behavior of a Gadget

The JIRA Issues Calendar gadget can be modified / edited..but I am looking for a couple more -

1. Can the calendar gadget be modified to show items by Severity rather than Priority inside the calendar?
2. I would like to see a total of items covered in the calendar gadget by month or overall across the calendar.  For example if I have 100 open issues and I want to see WHEN those 100 are scheduled to be done - based on due date - it would be great to see if all 100 are on the calendar.  If they are not then I know some are missing a due date.  Today we cannot see any cumulative totals.

I take it nobody looks at this or perhaps there is no way to customize the calendar gadget further?
