Hi, i am trying to load new Stories to a Project, but the vertical seperator is not recognized. All 10 columns are realized only in one, instead of getting pulled into 10 seperate fields.
In the screen "Map Fields" all line content from the CSV is shown in the first csv column target only - all other 9 remain empty, and so the load fails due to missing type, summary,...
How to overcome this problem? I tried using different separators, I created one manual Story in Jira, downloaded CSv with "|", used it as blueprint for the file but still no chance.
Thanks for help
Hello @michael Wardin
Welcome to the community.
Are you working on Jira Cloud or Jira Server/Data Center?
Are you using the Import From CSV that is available from the Search page or the one that is available to Jira Administrators in the System > External System Import page?
Regardless of which you are using, in Jira Cloud at least there is a point in the process where you have the option to set the CSV file delimiter. Are you changing that from a comma to the | character?
@Trudy Claspill : the seperator was changed - also in the various try outs with comma semicolon, and finally the vertical bar.
License Information for Jira: v8.13.3.
I am not using the admin loading function, but through the navigation bar
-->Issues-->Import issues from CSV
If of any help, I could include the csv example, but I do not find an upload function in the community threads?!?
thanks, michael

There is no option to upload files in these user community posts. You would need to just type in a small sample of your data. If you post something here, I'll let you know if I see if any problems.
I work with Jira Cloud, and the vertical separator option works for me. I don't have access to a Jira Server/Data Center instance for testing, though.

@Trudy Claspill here is the example from the CSV:
Work Package|Summary|Description|Start date|Issue Type|Component/s|Priority|Due Date|Assignee

* The baseline are selective 1.5 integration test cases
* Additional functional review to be performed if requested and required
* Determine any fit to template concerns
* Create change request for any new processes required and receive GPO approval
* Update process master list where required and add request to Jira

Thanks for looking

I just found this out: when taking out the column description it is perfectly identifying all columns. So it seems there is something wrong with the textfield for the description. Although it is downloaded from tasks in Jira (the * are bullet points in Jira, and the hyperlink is actually only displayed with the word "link")
So how do I import a nice looking description with bullet points and line breaks?
