CC field, or equivalent functionality, seems to be missing from team-managed projects

In an older version of Jira (not cloud-based), every project defaulted to having a CC field.  The usefulness was that anyone included in the CC field would get all jira updates (create, edit, change in field values, etc.)

With our cloud version, I can create a CC field as a custom field, but I can't seem to change the notification settings in team-managed projects to include everyone listed in that custom field.

  • Team-managed projects are especially restrictive, as I can't seem to send notifications on a custom field.  I can only send notifications based on a limited number of options.  These options don't seem to include custom fields.
  • teamManagedNotificationSettings.png

Is there a way to change this in team-managed projects?  Looking at the list above, the only field that would include a list of people would be the Watchers, but I can't easily add watchers.

Hello @Nelson Costa

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

The Jira self-hosted product did not include a system field named CC, as of version 7 and newer. Perhaps in your environment your Administrators had created that custom field and made it available in every project.

It is not currently possible to customize the recipients of Notifications in Team Managed projects to include other User picker fields, Groups, or individual users as can be done for Company Managed project Notification Schemes.

I've been looking for a change request for this in Atlassian's public backlog, but haven't found one yet.

And alternative would be to send the notifications via an Automation Rule.

Thanks for the reply @Trudy Claspill

Is the alternative to migrate the project to a company-managed one?

I'll look at Automation Rules and how I can go about getting the same functionality.

Thank you again for your help.

Migrating the data to a Company Managed project is an alternative, but that is rife with its own problems including possible data loss for individual fields, and disconnection of Epics from their child issues.
