Bulk assigning People

Hi All,

Is there a way of clicking on a user and assigning which projects they have access to. I have the users in a project roll, but they were not a part of the team when I setup the projects and therefore they are not listed in the "People" section of the project. I have 10 projects  and I wanted to know if there was a quicker way to add the new users to all the projects instead of going into each project and adding them one by one.

Thanks in Advance

Hi Alex,

The quick answer is no, there is not a way to bulk load them to projects.

However, if you have assigned project roles to groups in the project under people and not individuals, then if you place the new user in that group they will automatically have the permissions.

Thanks for that John. I already have the project rolls setup and people set as default members. When I create a new product, the project roles that have access to the product automatically got added into the "People" section of the product under their respective roles. The issue I have is that a new member has now been added to the team and I have added them in as a default member of a specific role. If I create a new product, then the new user is added, all great. However, the other X already created product, they dont have access to event though their product role has access. I found that was because I needed to manually add them to the People section of the previously created products.

My issue is the adding the the previous projects is time consuming and wanted to bulk add them.

But if you had an existing project with a project role for Team assigned to a Jira Group called XYZ Team, for example, then when a new team member is added to the XYZ Team, then he will automatically have access to the existing project.

Am I missing something?

Hi John,

Maybe this is what my issue is. I have not setup Jira Groups. I have setup Jira Project Roles

I use Groups A LOT.  :-)

It works really well to handle permissions for not just projects but workflows, automation, etc.
