Bulk Updating/Removing Custom User Properties

I'm looking to see what options are available to remove a set of custom user properties from all users.  We have an update script that grabs values from an external database, and updates the values of a set of custom user properties, but we have additional custom user properties that are no longer needed and are cluttering up our view of the user profile.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
