Hello -
I am looking to bulk copy issues from one project to another and preserve all data in the source project. Bulk Move will permanently move source data to target so this is not an option as need source data to still be preserved for validation purposes.
Is there an easy way to perform this bulk clone job without purchasing an app?
Thanks in advance.
Hello @Farhad Babury
When you say you want to copy the issues, due you mean absolutely all the data?
I don't believe there is an "easy" method to achieve this without an app.
Automation Rules could be used to copy the issues but it would not copy the issue history. Automation could copy the attachments, comments, and links. It would essentially be creating a new issue, so the status of the issue would be set to the initial status for issues in the destination project. You would have to also automate transitions to get each issue to the same status it is currently in.
Hi Farhad,
Have you looked into exporting Jira issues to a csv and then reimporting that csv into another project? That should allow you to keep issues in that source project but also have those issues in another project and through this function, you can specify whether you want to map fields during the import.
Also, there is a feature request to add cloning as a bulk operation here. I suggest voting and watching this as well.

Hi Chris - thanks for the quick response. yes, but the CSV option would not include copying over attachment data (unless I am mistaken). We have hundreds of issues with many attachments (PDFs, images, etc) and want those to be migrated over as well.
