[Bug] Epics instantly disappear after creation

I am unable to create epics or link my tickets to epics. Every time I create an epic, they disappear on page refresh.

In the screenshot we can see that the backlog shows no epics (see left of the screen). However, if I right click on a ticket and try to set a parent (as see in the screenshot), we can clearly see the epics there (there are duplicate epics because I keep trying to re-create them).

Once I set a parent through this right-click menu, nothing happens - the parent does not get assigned.

This started happening after I turned off, and then back on, the Backlog feature in the project settings. All my epics disappeared, so I tried to recreate them to no avail.

Looks like a pretty serious bug, any advice?

Hi @Jamie Goodson

We got another report from another users with very similar behavior and someone pointed a known bug linked below:

I'm wondering if the project key was changed on your end before and if the provided workaround resolve the issue.

  1. Open the 'Timeline' tab
  2. Clicked 'Fix my timeline'

Thanks Septa, I reached out to support and they resolved the issue for me. It was a similar issue - my project key was changed and that broke a filter. They had to manually update the database to fix my board.

Hi @Jamie Goodson

I tried to replicate the issue by creating the epic through the button on the left of the screens and the "Create" button on the top. However, I'm not able to replicate the issue successfully on my end.

Could you please elaborate the steps you took so we could test it out? Also, have you tried to configure the board and see if there is a filter in place that might remove the epic?

Hello, thanks for looking into this for me.

Yup I pressed the same button: "+ Create epic". Did you refresh after creating it? It disappears for me (even though I can still see it after the refresh when I try to assign a ticket to it, but then it unassigns on refresh). I don't seem to have any filters in place either.

Also, when creating the epic, the UI hangs on creating it. It animates as if infinitely trying to load the details of the epic. Very odd 🤔
