The redirection to a plugin page after clicking in the "boards" menu is not a known behavior in Jira. At least, I was not able to reproduce or find any information about it in our knowledge base.
That being said, I suggest you try the following:
1 - Clear your browser cache
2 - Try to use a different browser
3 - Make sure the browser you use is supported by your current Jira version by selecting your Jira version in the documentation below:

If the suggestions above didn't help, could you please provide us with your current Jira version and the browser you are seeing this problem?
Also, try to click in different corners of the "Boards" button to enforce the wrong behavior and check if the problem happens when you have not waited for the page to fully load, so we can have more data about what could be causing this occasional problem. Sometimes, an element of the site might be rendered in the wrong place due to cache problems or if the page is not fully loaded.
